Who are you?

My name is Devon Hansen. I’m a musician and writer based in Montreal.

What is this?

Paracosm is a place for me to self-publish my writing, both fiction and non-fiction. It may involve contributions from other writers in the future, but for now it’s just me.

What do you write about?

In terms of non-fiction, you’ll find a fairly specific mix of subjects that have become quite personal to me over the years.

This includes art and technology, cinema and television, occult and esoteric studies, the paranormal, religious studies, queer theory, gender and sexuality studies, postcolonial theory, histories of the political left, and other things. I’m particularly interested in the areas where these subjects overlap. This material will usually take the form of essays, blog posts, and the occasional interview.

I am not an expert in any of these fields — just a curious reader, a careful researcher, and an eager sharer of information.

My fiction, meanwhile, is typically informed by the subjects listed above. You can expect short stories and serialized novellas.

What’s it cost?

For now, I’d like to keep Paracosm free, as I’ll likely only have time to publish sporadically. I may begin to charge for subscriptions if the project gains more interest and begins to require greater commitment of time and consistency.
